Further to my earlier comments, I have now realized that the reason for Gacutil not working was because I had neglected to enclose the build event strings in quotes. (Your example shows the correct usage.)

Incidentally, under Windows 7, I have amended the properties of devenv.exe so that it always runs as administrator.</description>

I would like to add two points.  I cannot get the pre-build use of gacutil to work, since Windows 7 and VS10 will not give permission, even though I ran VS as an administrator.  I had
